@ 33 weeks 1 day

Taken @ 32 weeks 1 day.
Just by looking at this picture, you'll be able to notice how BIG I already am. So far ,the extra inches Ive gain on my waist seems worthwhile coz Im thanking my lucky stars (for now) that my face shape didnt change.

Ive heard where some ladies experienced bloatedness and expanding nose and cheeks. As of now, I still look the same (not the lower half though) and my face shape remains the same as pre-pregnancy. But of course, before some of you burst my bubbles, I know, I know....Who knows in the next few weeks to come, right? I may look like one juicy, oily fishball....?? *shrug*

Ok, this blog entry better be good coz as truth to be told, Ive been feeling uneasy and fatigueness since these few days. Soya Bean's movement have been very vigorous and strong and although Im enjoying that special moment, it can be so intensed at times that I had to 'sayang2x' her, hopefully she kicked and punched me a lil' gentler. There was once when she kicked hard and hubby gently massage that area till she went down. Hehehhee!

My recent visit to the gynae really gave me a scare! On the scanning screen, it was stated that Im already at my 35th week of gestation and my due date will be on the 16th April 2012. OMG! That will be exactly 4 weeks from now..??!! Baby is big at 2.6kg according to Dr Anna and if my initial due date, which is on the 4th May is accurate, Baby might have reached 3.6kg++ and that will posed a problem for me to give birth vaginally. On top of that, my haemoglobin is low. This is something that has always been the problem ever since my teenage years. So pack on the IRON MAN!

I have no issue in popping the iron tablets but just the very bad habit to 'procrastinate'. So now the husband will make sure he gets a glass of water before I sleep and feed me the iron tablet. However, what I worry the most is the birthing process. And.......

-What if Soya Bean decided to pop early than expected? Premmie..?? Can I handle it...??
-What if she gets too big and I cant pushed her out naturally?
- And what happen if my water bag burst while Im in a public place, public transport etc?

Sigh. Please pardon me for Im just a first time, inexperienced Mama-to-be. Naturally I will get all 'kan-cheong' spider about many things.

And being a first time Mama-to-be, lots of 'advices' comes naturally too. I posted on my status somewhere last week, asking fellow "FBookies", on what are the myths and pantangs that they ever listened to or received.

Here's some that I personally feel very hilarious & absurd:

-If you wanna eat chicken, preparation must be done by someone else to chop the feet and wings for fear that your unborn child might have deformaties on his/her limbs.

-No sewing supposed to be done to avoid having baby having cleft lips.

-If your tummy gets itchy often, that shows that your baby has a thick head of hair.

-Dont eat 'sotong' (squid) if not you will experienced difficult labour.

- Always carry something sharp (nail seems to be the fave) to ward off evil.

-Eating too much crab might result to baby being too active aka having ADHD.

In fact there are so many 'pantang-larang'. People said, do not shrug off what the old wives' tell you. Take it into your strides and just smile it all away. :))

As for now, people simply love to speculate about my tummy shape. And yes, I do receive endless stares and rude one too!
Whatever it is, may Allah protect this not so little lady in me. May she be those who obeys Allah and be a sensible daughter to us..... Insya Allah.

  1. If it makes you feel any better, Ash was 3.6kg when he was born (my family got a shock pasal I was so kudut pre-pregnancy) and my belly was very big too while I was pregnant. I felt like Barney the dinosaur. By 3rd trimester, I could barely walk properly and had trouble moving. I managed to give birth to him vaginally at 39 weeks and 1 day after 2 days of labour pain at home, tapi kat sini they advice you to stay at home until your contractions is 1 minute apart to prevent false alarm or getting induce, unless of course you have an emergency. I was haemorrhaging so when my contractions were 2 mins apart, we made our way to the hospital. When we reach and doctor checked, I dah 5cm dilated! Sakit macam nak giler! My husband and my midwife offered very good support and that helped. I have a friend, and she is Asian too, and petite and her baby boy was 4.2kg, and she managed to give birth vaginally too. Her midwife was even more awesome and she was not as kancheong as me so when midwife said don't push she didn't, so her muscles stretched gradually and she didn't even tear! I hope sharing our births and baby weight can help ease your fears a little. Big baby doesn't necessarily means baby will get stuck. It all depends.
I was kancheong and scared and worried about so many things. I think the thing that I hated the most was when strangers touch my belly! Huge pregnant bellies seem to make people forget about boundaries! So annoying. I had anaemia too throughout the pregnancy sampai lepas give birth. my midwife suggested taking the iron pill with 100% fruit juice pasal the vit c will help to absorb the iron and also it will prevent you from getting constipated. lagi lagi time gini, digestive system ade sikit tak betul. Also, I want to ask, did your gynae tell you to cut down on calcium to stunt baby's growth? Kalau it happened here, I think legal action will be taken against the gynae for suggesting that. Here, they don't estimate birth weight of baby either because most of the time it is not correct. Anyway, all the best with rest of the pregnancy and I wish you a smooth delivery. Vaginally or c-section it all depends on how your labour pans out. As long as you and baby are safe, it doesn't matter why kind of delivery you have. Take care.
P.S. You are such a radiant and beautiful pregnant woman!

  2. hi khal!! great to her from you!! and yes, i really hate it when strangers commented openly abt my tummy saying, "its too potruding" or "wah...so big!" and that will eventually follows with the staring up & down moment..haiz...especially those aunties lah. and yes, my gynae said the same thing too abt stop taking calcium. but i still take my milk coz i do want to get the appropriate nutrients..im taking Dumex Mamil btw...
and yes, i heard abt my own colleague too who is more petite than me and she delivered her 3rd baby vaginally and baby was a hefty 4.45kg!! many adviced me not to get so uptight over this thing coz at the end of the day, baby will be out when the time comes...and thanx again khal for sharing your experience!! *hugzz*
