My New Addition: Ms Backache.

August is coming to end...that fast huh...?? And that shows we have only 10 or more days left for Ramadan. Lailatul Qadar can happen any time from these ten days and it will be the best time to seek Allah's blessings, forgiveness and prays for what we want. At this moment I can only think of my Soya Bean's health and well-being.

At 6 weeks 5 days old, its features are slowly developing. I have been downing Vitasoy Soya Bean Milk (thus the nickname of my growing foetus) ever since pre-pregnancy till now.
I dont crave for Seasons Ice Lemon Tea like before. Each night, I drink at least two full glasses of soya bean milk and it just feels great knowing my own Soya Bean will be getting all the nutrients from it. I was discussing with Hubb the other night asking him to take off/leave day on the Sept 16th (being my 29th birthday!!) and plan to make a trip down to the gynae for our first heartbeat scan of the foetus. But oh well....military life is so regimental, what else. He will be on course from 15th till the 17th and finally I chose to go on the 14th instead, which would be exactly a month after that pregnancy self-test kit.
By the 14th, Soya Bean will be approximately 8 weeks 4 days old. Not too early to for scanning, am I..??

Being close to 7th weeks, I am still at my same weight. Ive read where some ladies put on at least 5-6kg by the time they reached their 7th-8th week pregnancy. And some too, had that baby bump already by the 8th week. I dont see myself gaining any weight (which is good...or bad..??) and baby bump..?? Cant see any. Or is it because of the fasting month where Ive been eating lesser or Soya Bean is not growing well..?? I really hope its NOT the latter. I really want YOU to grow well and healthy Soya Bean!! Frankly, I do admit Im rather scared of the weight gain but it does worries me a little knowing that I am not gaining any despite me reaching my 7th weeks in 2 days time.

The only thing I feel & experience as of now as a pregnant lady is the incessant giddyness, sensitive to smell, weird/metallic taste in my mouth and nauseousness. And not forgetting a new addition, MS BACKACHE.
The backache starts to attack since yesterday afternoon. I dont know why. Or is it because Ive been sitting on the floor and resting my back on the wall for a long period while crochetting the flowers for my hairbands & kufi hats orders...?? The aching is still lingering till now especially the lower back. And I guess the past few days of cleaning and disinfecting the centre due to the HFMD outbreak may contributes to this pain too. Ive been sitting on the child's chair and bending down to wash and disinfect the toys. Why dont I ask the teachers to do it, you may ask..?? Well, I rather have them looking after the kids in the classroom to ensure their safety. I am a caring SUP, hokay. *evil snigger*

Orite...Ive been sitting on the floor for way too long and bearing with this back pain. Waiting for Hubb to come home which I reckon will be in another 10minutes. Gonna lie down while waiting for him with my new read, "Lore of the Light: History & Stories of The Prophets".

Hari Raya Preparation

Finally I have rectified the problem in the dates setting in my blog, thanx to Victor & Liping!! Yeay....it was so simple, I felt so dumb. Hahhahaah!!

Hari Raya is around the bend yah and how's YOUR preparation...?? On my side, of course it will be a first for me as a wife to Mr Tan and also the first time I dont really bother to get outfit tailor-made from somewhere. I bought two outfits though from STUDIOFROST and had my own plans to add some design on them which I have not even get started on. We will be going to Joo Chiat to hunt for Hubb's baju kurung and maybe two sets of new tudungs for myself this Saturday and I really hope I can walk there in peace. I know its impossible to avoid crowds especially when the Hari Raya mood is exuding from everyone and everywhere at this point of time. We planned to just choose, grab and go. Whats with my constant giddiness, jostling in the crowd under the heat is NO JOKE.

This year too, mum is not planning to make kuehs. I remember vividly during my childhood days when mum would painstakingly bake kueh tart nenas (pineapple tart) and 'pinced' the pattern at the side of the tart. As I get older, she would ask me to grate the pineapples (yes, she made her OWN pineapple filling) and stuffed the filling into the tart. She would make hundreds of it, NOT to sell but to give to my grandma, my step-dad's boss, some relatives and keep a jar at home for us to gobble. However, ever since the number of her grandchildren is increasing, she stopped baking any kuehs and prefer to buy from my aunties and her friends. I have a parent in my centre whose husband just undergo an operation and was out of job for months. Determined to earn some money, she sells kuehs and drinks to make end meets. And so, after tasting some samples, mum decided to get 3 types of kuehs & biscuits from her.

Something else that we as a family always look forward to during Hari Raya is to beautify our room of course! Something which the husbands never understand why. All my sisters and my mum included are getting new curtains, bed sheets and whatever things nice in our respective rooms and homes. That includes flowers, vases, aromatheraphy lamp etc... Since I dont have my own home yet, I can always beautify my room mah!!

Oh yes!! How can I forget.... Green packets!! Duit collections....!!
Oh baby..... By next year Hari Raya, I want to collect more for my baby!! Insya Allah!!
This year for now, its for my little niece & nephews and of course the elderlys.

So have a blast in your preparation alrite. Just dont forget, whilst busy preparing for Raya, remember & thanked our Creator, Allah swt for giving us another chance to celebrate Syawal.

6 Weeks & Counting

Last Monday, we went for the unit selection of our new home. We settled for a third floor unit. However, I wasnt really very pleased with the ready made sample of the living rooom's flooring tiles. Oh well, we dont have much choices it seems.

I just realised that each time I blogged, the date is reflecting a day before the actual day that I am writing my entry. Like my last entry "13 Ramadan with Soya Bean & HDB". I wrote it on Monday, 23rd August but it stated, Sunday 22nd August. How do I rectify this thing?

Anyway...... today, 25th August 2010, Soya Bean is offically 6 weeks old. This is how Soya Bean might have looked like inside of me at 6 weeks old.

But of course, despite my kanchiong-ness, I have to wait pretty much longer until I can really SEE the bump on my tummy. However, the older colleagues at work (especially the nyonyas) are already able to guess that Im expecting even when I actually kept mum about it. KLS was concerned when I took all the toys for washing and disinfecting. She wanted to do it and advised me not to handle any chemical (ie: DETTOL) as it will be bad for the foetus. How she knows..?? I dont know!! Old wives' instinct I guess!!

Stamina at this moment seems to go down slightly. I got tired easily, not mentioning breathlessness. Each time after completing something, I must quickly find a chair to sit and catch my breath! Getting up from the sujud position in my prayer also had to be done slowly. Am I getting helpless or what? That bad. Ya Allah, Im only at my early stage. I need lots of energy & strength to move on for the next 9 months and beyond!!

At this moment, I avoid taking picture of my tummy (yet) as there's nothing to see actually. Hahahah!! Unless, people are curious to see my flabs lah. Maybe, the best time will be once I passed my 8th weeks, insya Allah.

And the best thing is.... I can still look "un-pregnant" during Raya soon with my new outfits!! So I wont look like some girl who is terribly boncit in a wrong way....

Yippeeee!!!

13 Ramadan with Soya Bean & HDB.

13th Ramadan.....
Exactly a year ago based on the Islamic calender, I met my husband. We break our fast together at Woodlands. As we met nearing to buka timing, obviously we couldnt find any seats available at Causewaypoint. And so he bought some packed food from the nearby bazaar and we sat down at a corner behind the MRT station and ate there.
And like all other stories go, the rest is history!

We made the decision to be together and 3months and 8 days after, our union of love is bearing the fruit of our labour.

Soya bean now is at 5weeks 5 days old. The giddyness seems to come and visit on alternate days. Hunger pangs? Dont say, especially during the fasting month. Feeling lethargic also seems to be a norm now. Yesterday, right after cleaning our room, I got so tired and just wanna sleep with the fan on full blast. Maybe its true when they say, a pregnant woman's body temperature tends to be higher than usual. Or just that the weather nowadays is really getting hotter!!

My mum and 1st sister advised me not to consume too much spicy food. But I just cant help it. Mum prepared asam rebus ikan kekek with pineapple yesterday and I told her I wanted sambal bawang. (dried chilli pound with belacan and onion) Whoooo!!! It was heavenly, I tell you!! But I avoid eating pineapple. You know how drama serials always showcase that eating pineapple will harm the foetus...?? I got so affected by it and didnt eat it. Well, I dont like pineapple to begin with anyway. However, something is pretty obvious here. Its my impending craving for spicy dishes with fish only. Chicken not so much. Meat, dont really like it.
But of course, vegetables is a must! Hubb's love for green leafy veggies is really a motivation for me to consume my greens everyday!

The last time I went for check up was last week. The next one will be done after Raya then. And that will be an exciting one coz that will be the one to see Soya Bean's heartbeat!! Insya Allah, it will all turned out fine. The most important thing now is to have Soya Bean growing healthily in me till the day I get to see him/her come April 2011. Insya Allah.

Gonna wake the Hubb now to go to HDB!! Yep yep.... We are going for the unit selection of our new home later and meeting up with Mother too.

Alhamdullilah, rezeki datang dari Allah. :)

1st to 4th Week Journey

Some might already known about the latest thing that happened to my life. And seriously, the news brought me over the moon and beyond!
But first, Alhamdullilah and all praises to Allah for granting me what I have been praying for.

Yes.... now I am beginning my first crucial steps in the first trimester of pregnancy.
*huge smilezzz*
However, families have told me to bear in mind not to be too overzealous and overly active right now as this is always the most crucial time of all. The 'thing' in me may be slightly bigger than the full stop at the end of this sentence but caring for it is NOT a small matter.

Last week, when the 'angel' did not come, I was actually jumping in my heart but fearing for a false alarm, I waited for 5 more days before deciding on the most common detection: Home Pregnancy Test Kit.

Photobucket

This was the test that I did at home. Too bad hubby was off to work already and couldnt share the news with him. My mum was the first to know of course, hahahahah!!! I smiled and grinned like a xiao cha bor in the bathroom before asking my mum to close her eyes and showed the kit to her!
As this kit couldnt be kept for more than 10minutes, I took a pix of it for the husband's sake. Naturally, he was hoping for a boy already although we both know it is way too early to tell.

Everything else seems normal for me with some slight changes in my chest and tummy. And it isnt a good change though. I was already telling the hubby that I might need a whole new collections of lingerie as I get bigger!! Just imagine how a tiny 'poppy seed' can create a whole new change in a woman's body!

Last night I had the worst giddy & migraine spell right after the MCYS briefing on Hand, Foot & Mouth Disease at the Rock Auditorium. (Btw, if you are a parent with young kids, do take extra precautions as the HFMD virus is circulating really bad)

The walk to City Hall MRT seemed forever and I had to walk by the side and used the walls as support. My throat got so dry due to fasting and having the weird metallic taste in my mouth added up to the already difficult situation. Boarding the train was another story: You guessed it. No seats. Oh, well. No one can really tell that Im pregnant (jangan perasan eh...perut masih kecik, babat jer lebih) and so I cannot expect someone to offer me a seat. Despite the impending pain in my head, I held on to the handle and kept swallowing my 'metallic' saliva and forced myself not to sway and eventually fall down.

By the time I got home I asked the Hubb to give me a slight massage on my left sole. See, how the pain in my head got spread to the sole of my feet? It made me wonder too. Right after buka and Maghrib prayers, I told hub to look at my very pale lips. And before I knew it, I was slumped on the bed till 8:50PM when mum got into the room. I got up and did Isyak. The pain didnt go away, unfortunately. Felt like taking the Panadol but I heard some who advised against taking it during pregnancy. Temperature was running at 37.2C. My tears flowed as the pain was so bad. That's when I buzzed the Hubb to come back quickly from terawih as I wanted to see the doctor. He came back just before 9:30pm.

Funnily, I was the last patient. Hubb reminded me to seek the doctor's advice on the pregnancy test that I did few days back. And so, the whole procedure was done again and the doctor confirmed that the embryo in me is already 4 weeks and 5 days old. He prescribed me a mild Paracetamol which I guess didnt really help coz Im still having this giddiness.

Photobucket

Doc allowed me to keep this kit which remained the same despite me keeping it for the past hours!!

Now, Im at home, still nursing the bad giddiness. And having the constructions drilling things around is not a good help either.

Just hope Hubb can get home early today so he can help me massage my feet and head.
:)

Just sharing with all of you how early pregnancy happened:

brides.blush Photo Shoot!

Had the most enjoyable photo shoot last Saturday. All thanx to my beautiful bestie, Nad for her photography (Nad Photographique) and of course the two beautiful models, Fadya & Mastini.

Mum was very supportive that day that she prepared a big pot of mee rebus, curry puffs and 'whathaveyous' just to make sure my friends were all comfortable while 'working'.

We started at 12noon with make-up and hair and wrapped up closed to 7pm! Pheww.....!!! It was undeniable FUN, BACK-BREAKING but of course WORTH ALL THOSE SWEAT!!

As a small investment start up to my latest interest, the photo shoot showcases my collections for weddings and engagement.

Of Colours & Fun!!

When was the last time I blog...??
The past few weeks had been packed...I will come to that pretty soon!! (Clue: HADY MIRZA!!)
Hahaha...!!

Last Thursday and Friday, I was assigned to assist in backstage job together with my group of make-up artistes friends at Mediacorp for the Sinar Lebaran 2010 show.
Obviously, recording was done before the fasting month which is only NEXT week..!!

Backstage job naturally spells back-breaking too, whats with alteration for the artistes' wardrobe (which means, sewing on the spot!) make-up and making sure they got dressed and be ready for their individual segment on time.
Artistes involved were BIG names like HADY MIRZA, Sezairi Sazali, Sarah Aqila, Salma, Tomok (M'sian artistes were handled by their own team), and other local artistes.

There wasnt many female artistes though but it gave me the virgin chance to do make-up for male artistes which also includes our very own Asian Idol, Hady Mirza. I have to admit, that guy is so quiet that it made the whole situation even more akward! I was already so star-strucked and there he was, right in front of me!! But I have to agree he was very professional and yes, amicable. :) The same goes to Sezairi too who was so polite and said "Hello" to almost everyone. And yes..he does look like Najip Ali...but the much cuter version. :)

And of course....whats blogging without pictures, right..???

Recently, I got orders from a mother who just gave birth to a baby girl and by simply requesting her choice of colours, I came up with these.....
