Hari Raya Preparation

Finally I have rectified the problem in the dates setting in my blog, thanx to Victor & Liping!! Yeay....it was so simple, I felt so dumb. Hahhahaah!!

Hari Raya is around the bend yah and how's YOUR preparation...?? On my side, of course it will be a first for me as a wife to Mr Tan and also the first time I dont really bother to get outfit tailor-made from somewhere. I bought two outfits though from STUDIOFROST and had my own plans to add some design on them which I have not even get started on. We will be going to Joo Chiat to hunt for Hubb's baju kurung and maybe two sets of new tudungs for myself this Saturday and I really hope I can walk there in peace. I know its impossible to avoid crowds especially when the Hari Raya mood is exuding from everyone and everywhere at this point of time. We planned to just choose, grab and go. Whats with my constant giddiness, jostling in the crowd under the heat is NO JOKE.

This year too, mum is not planning to make kuehs. I remember vividly during my childhood days when mum would painstakingly bake kueh tart nenas (pineapple tart) and 'pinced' the pattern at the side of the tart. As I get older, she would ask me to grate the pineapples (yes, she made her OWN pineapple filling) and stuffed the filling into the tart. She would make hundreds of it, NOT to sell but to give to my grandma, my step-dad's boss, some relatives and keep a jar at home for us to gobble. However, ever since the number of her grandchildren is increasing, she stopped baking any kuehs and prefer to buy from my aunties and her friends. I have a parent in my centre whose husband just undergo an operation and was out of job for months. Determined to earn some money, she sells kuehs and drinks to make end meets. And so, after tasting some samples, mum decided to get 3 types of kuehs & biscuits from her.

Something else that we as a family always look forward to during Hari Raya is to beautify our room of course! Something which the husbands never understand why. All my sisters and my mum included are getting new curtains, bed sheets and whatever things nice in our respective rooms and homes. That includes flowers, vases, aromatheraphy lamp etc... Since I dont have my own home yet, I can always beautify my room mah!!

Oh yes!! How can I forget.... Green packets!! Duit collections....!!
Oh baby..... By next year Hari Raya, I want to collect more for my baby!! Insya Allah!!
This year for now, its for my little niece & nephews and of course the elderlys.

So have a blast in your preparation alrite. Just dont forget, whilst busy preparing for Raya, remember & thanked our Creator, Allah swt for giving us another chance to celebrate Syawal.

:)
